Best Glow Boosters During Winter

Are you feeling the effects of winter… dry, dehydrated and frankly a little lizard-like? Lost your inner and outer glow this season? Fear not, follow these easy lifestyle tweaks to banish the winter blues and boost your overall glow.
Get moving
Prioritise regular movement to not only stay in shape but feel good from the inside out. Whatever you know will work into your lifestyle… we are all juggling multiple commitments, so try and commit to a regular weekly session whether walking with a friend, playing a game of tennis or taking a yoga class.
Skincare boost
Amplify your skincare routine, from beginning to end. Use a rich, nourishing cleanser over harsh products that will further strip the skin’s natural oils and exacerbate the drying effects of winter. Hydrate parched skin with a mist, followed quickly by a replenishing treatment serum. To get the circulation going and deflate puffiness, massage your moisturiser into the skin with a gua-sha tool. Always finish with an SPF. Don’t forget to regularly exfoliate twice per week and use an overnight mask at least once per week. Visit your skin technician for an additional boost!
Hybrid Makeup
Skincare-enriched makeup is the way forward for a radiant glow during winter. Opt for a serum foundation, powder enriched with skin-loving ingredients and a lipstick that treats the lips with Vitamin E and peptides. It’s a no brainer really, double the impact in a single step.
Hydrate hair and nails
Nails and hair are prone to winter blues, feeling dry, brittle and generally lack-lustre. Make use of a hair exfoliant to reset your scalp and sweep away debris, followed by a rich mask to bring hair back to life. Massage a treatment oil into nails to improve bad circulation (a common winter problem) and leave nails soft and supple. If synthetic nails are your thing, take a break during winter to rehabilitate natural nails.
You simply are what you eat
For a fresh and glowing complexion, focus on eating antioxidant rich foods and increasing your water consumption. Pile your plate with blueberries, salmon, lemon, avocados and spices like ginger and turmeric, well-known for their anti-inflammatory benefits. Cut back on daily caffeine intake by swapping out coffee with herbal tea, try antioxidant infused rooibos. Don’t forget to practise being mindful when you eat, rather than scoffing a chocolate bar on the run, savour a small piece of dark chocolate with a cup of tea.
Nourish your mind
Keep your brain, ideas and thinking alight by nourishing the mind, your most powerful asset. It influences how you perceive the world, handle challenges and find joy in everyday moments. Take pleasure in growing and learning through meditation, journalling, podcast-listening, playing trivia or crafting. Whatever engages your brain, do more of and keep glowing.
